“I felt the misery and suffering of others…I was constantly occupied with the thought of how I could be of service to the needy and the poor.” Those are thoughts shared in writing by Mother Mary Theresa many years ago. They certainly provide an answer as to why she established the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago. Responding to the needs of the sick, aged and infirm requires great resources. Safe and secure places to live, associates to provide care and the many costs of daily living all carry a large financial burden. With the numbers of those in need increasing, and the cost of care continuing to escalate, the need for financial support has also grown substantially. One of the ways Franciscan Communities assists those in need is through the Gift of Care program. The Gift of Care program is a commitment by Franciscan Communities to underwrite all or a portion of a resident’s care for a specific period of time (if funding is available). The program is available for applicants or existing residents who desperately need financial assistance with the expenses associated with the compassionate services provided daily at Franciscan Communities. To learn more about the application process, criteria and acceptance of the Gift of Care program, click here. We need your assistance to help ensure that others can benefit from said program and that Franciscan ministries continue into the future. You can make a gift that can touch the lives of many who are in great need of our unmatched care and services. There are many ways you can give to the Franciscan ministries. While cash is perhaps the most popular charitable gift, there are many other contributions you can make—from in-kind gifts to bequests of wills, trusts and annuities. Janet Sisler, the corporate director of community relations for the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago Service Corporation, is available to explain these gift-giving opportunities in great detail, and confidentially, with you. Please call her at (708) 647-3127 to schedule an appointment. Thank you for considering a gift that will help us in our mission to honor and serve others by caring for them with respect, dedication, stewardship and joy. |
